nothing - everything
nothing - everything
By Gray Riverson
red candle wax drips down the chandelier.
i see closed curtains made of dark velvet.
i hear the soothing melody played on an old piano.
i smell the burning wood from the time-worn fireplace.
i taste sweet strawberries dipped in rich chocolate.
i feel silky sheets draped over my naked body.
for once my mind doesn't wander,
doesn't yearn for what was or what will be.
darkness takes over my senses
and for a moment i am nothing everything.
i am a shooting star lightyears away, enchanting and out of reach
but i'm also the everlasting chestnut tree in the garden
next to the weathered set of swings,
with branches dancing in the winds of spring.
i'm bright and endless,
no borders, no burdens, no body.
the red wax keeps dripping.
